This month, the Ada City Schools Foundation kicked off its 2014 “Million Dollar Milestone Campaign” by honoring the first round of Founders Club donors and continuing a push for additional financial support from the Ada community and school alumni.
For 26 years, the primary goal of the Ada City Schools Foundation (ACSF) has been to raise the funds needed to provide long-term support for the ongoing “Grants to Teachers” program. Through various fundraising projects and galas over the years, the Foundation has been steadily approaching their goal of a $1 million endowment to fully fund the program in perpetuity.
“Over the past few years, The Ada City Schools Foundation has been able to consistently award more than $30,000 annually to Ada teachers for special projects in the classroom. This one -year funding campaign will allow us to raise the remaining monies necessary to reach our endowment goal and continue awarding these large sums for years to come,” said ACSF President Somerlyn Cothran. “And we don’t have far to go.”
The ACSF is a fully tax-deductible organization which relies entirely on contributions from community members to continue its operations.
“The Ada community has always been generous. We’re asking for gifts to enable us to continue providing worthwhile and motivating learning experiences for our children,” said ACSF Treasurer Janice Stout. “We appreciate those individuals and businesses that have already stepped up and agreed to make a significant investment in this program.”
The Million Dollar Milestone Campaign features donor levels from $20,000 to $1,000. Campaign contributors will be recognized on permanent plaques that will be placed on the wall at each school in the Ada City Schools System.
“Progress and economic growth for the entire community are the results of an excellent school system, which Ada has,” said Grants to Teachers co-chair Ashley McCortney. The ACSF “Grants to Teachers” program is the largest ongoing program administered by the Foundation. Grants provided to teachers range from $5,000 to $100.
